Sue Ansel Named President and CEO of Gables Residential; Severt, Pisklak and Sullivan Receive Key Leadership Appointments
Gables Residential, a leader in the management and development of multifamily apartment communities, has announced the appointment of Sue Ansel as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Sue Ansel most recently served as Gables’ Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In her twenty-five year career with Gables, she has had oversight of operations, served in development roles and led important initiatives including the advancement of real estate technology efforts, third-party client services, and the establishment of the asset management group. Because of her exemplary leadership, Sue was chosen to fill the seat vacated by outgoing President and CEO, David Fitch.
David Fitch stepped down after having served ten years with Gables. “It is always a tough decision determining when the time is right,” said Mr. Fitch. “Times could not be more exciting than they are now as Gables is in the midst of launching an ambitious growth initiative. I felt that it was time for those who have served beside me to take the reins,” he noted.
Stephen Cordes, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gables commented, “We thank David for his service, hard work and success in favorably positioning Gables for the future. We are fortunate to have tenured and talented leaders within Gables ready to assume new roles.” Mr. Cordes also noted, “Sue is well-respected in the multifamily industry and by investors, joint venture partners and institutional clients and will ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities within Gables.”
In addition to the elevation of Ms. Ansel to CEO, Gables also announced the following appointments:
• Dawn Severt, an eighteen-year veteran of Gables, will continue in her role as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Dawn brings an important strategic capital management perspective to Gables. She will also assume accountability for additional areas of responsibilities, including the enterprise technology platform.
• Ben Pisklak has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. Most recently, Ben, a Hanover partner before joining Gables twelve years ago, led the West Investments team covering the three major Texas markets and Southern California. Ben has demonstrated superior leadership and development talents during his tenure with Gables.
• Cris Sullivan has been elevated to the position of Executive Vice President - Operations. During her 24 year career with Gables, Cris has fostered a culture of excellence in delivering customer service to Gables’ clients and residents. Her promotion will consolidate the leadership of the national marketing, leasing and management functions that service the wholly owned, joint venture and third-party owned portfolios.
“I am honored and grateful to the Board for the opportunity to lead this exceptional organization of dedicated and talented professionals," said Ms. Ansel. “This is an amazing opportunity that any leader would welcome."
